Milk Price

The milk price for the month of May is 38.40 cents per litre (174.6 cents per gallon) at 3.60 % butterfat, 3.30 % protein and including 0.50 cents per litre Summer Somatic Cell Count bonus and VAT @ 5.0%. This represents a decrease of 1.0 cent per litre from the April milk price. Carbery reduced the price paid to the Society by 2.0 cents per litre but the Board of Directors agreed to support the price by 1.0 cent per litre.

Milk Supply

The milk supply for the month of May was 22,000,058 litres (4,839,353 gallons) with an average butterfat of 3.71% and an average protein of 3.33 %.
This represents an increase of 1,869,595 litres (411,255 gallons) on butterfat adjusted supply compared to May 2013.

The Co-Op was approximately 9.51% over quota at the end of the May.

To avail of Sustainable Dairy Assurance Scheme (SDAS) bonus, please return scheme application forms to the Co-op. On signing up to the scheme you are committing to having an audit in the next 18 months.

Chairman & Vice-Chairman

At a recent meeting of the Board of Directors, Mr. David Connolly, Reavouler, Drinagh was re-elected Chairman and Mr. Richard Connell, Dunmanus, was elected Vice- Chairman.

We congratulate them on their appointments and wish them well in their terms of office.

Pregnancy Testing

Animal Health Laboratories are now up and running with their Milk and Blood Pregnancy Test. The cost is €3.90 + VAT per sample and has 99% Sensitivity.
Results from 35 days post service in Milk and 28 days post service in blood. Quick, easy and non-invasive. Contact Anne Marie for more details on 086 4186494.
